OutOfMemory Errors

Problem

Searching through Attachments causes numerous OutOfMemory errors.

Troubleshooting

1. If items with the OutOfMemory errors are exported and searched again, do they get the same errors?

2. Is the version of DA 32-bit?

Cause

This problem is generally caused when a 32-bit version of DA is run against a large dataset in one task. 32-bit processes are limited to 4 GB of memory, no matter how much RAM is on the machine. Especially with fast processors, having large sets of data run with one limited task can cause the OOM errors.

Solution

1. Break up data into multiple folders then use multiple tasks (i.e., split) to search them

2. Export OOM exceptions and research

3. Upgrade to 64-bit Office/DA
